Uninstall cause my "Other Campaigns" in game to "Grey Out"

Reported by John Vanderbeck | December 1st, 2009 @ 11:36 PM | in Beta 2

I uninstalled the auto highlight mod earlier this afternoon. I have not been in game since this morning. When I loaded the game this evening, my "Other Campaigns" button is greyed out. I know for a fact that I have the PC Gamer Mod installed as well as my own little mod.

My Addins folder still lists all of the different stuff that it use to list (Folders visible)... and it looks like the usual mod files/area files etc are all still there.

Not sure why "Other" is greyed out and not sure how to make it light up again now either.

Hmm interesting one. The "Other Campaigns" is lit up when an AddIn is detected that does NOT "extend" single player.

Can you send me a copy of your current AddIns.xml file?

after you've sent it, in the same folder you will find backups of the file. DAModder backs it up each time it modifies it. You should be able to simply restore form one of the backups to fix the problem.

This issue should be resolved in Beta 1.3, but needs to be tested.
I found a bug that was causing some data in certain types of mods to not copy correctly, and I think it might have been the cause of this issue.

The same data corruption appears to still be happening in Beta 1.3 :(

Fixed another codepath causing XML corruption in B1.4, so need to see if this is still happening or not.

I just tested this in Beta_1_4.

I installed the "Auto Loot" mod (finally figured out how to create a package yay!).
This also served as a test for installing a mod as well.
It seemed to have installed fine (minus being able to tweak the ini file but I think that is forthcoming still)
I uninstalled it and hurray! Other Campaigns are available, other DLC available, etc.

    But ...

When I go to reload my game, it says that the saved game needs AutoLoot V1.11 and I have to "force load". If that is expected, no big deal, but if there is a way to make sure that doesn't happen, that would be optimal, IMO.

That is expected, and is how Dragon Age works. If you have a save game that uses a mod, but then disable or uninstall that mod, and load the save game, it will give you that warning.

The point of that is to let you know that your save game was using the mod, and now you're trying to play without the mod, and bad things might happen if your game relied on the mod. Usually its no problem to force a load. But let's say for example you have a save game with my Expanded Inventory mod, and you have 100 units of inventory filled. Then you disable or uninstall Expanded Inventory. Well now if you load that save game you suddenly won't have enough inventory because you'll be back to the base game's size of 70!

so that warning is normal, its just the game letting you know you might have a problem, or might not.

so other than that though, the install and uninstall worked fine and no corruption occurred?

Yes! No corruption (that I have seen) this time. I played one encounter in game just to check it out -- so far so good!

I think this is a closed issue now.
