Restoring of uninstalled mods that havent been installed with damodder...
Reported by Alex "Alexspeed" Bachner | December 3rd, 2009 @ 06:00 PM
not sure if its still relevant with the redesigned backup/restore tab. this was with beta 1.6
So i installed a bunch of mods with the DAUPDATER, not the
DAModder,
then i deleted 3 of them, works fine, data is erased from the right
places.
then i hit restore on the last backup, it says okay.
now i dont know what it did exactly,
the files of the mod that was last uninstalled did not get
restored,
most likely the addins.xml got restored to the one that had that
mod still installed.
Ingame there seems to be all okay, but of course the mod didnt got
reinstalled and it dosent show up under the installed content.
so you cant reverse a uninstall of a mod not installed with damodder i guess.
maybe there should be an error message informing the user, or it
should fail, i am not sure.
but as it is in this scenario the user might think the restore had
worked as intended and wont find the restored mod in the game.
i hope i could make myself clear, it was alittle hard to
describe,
and i am not sure if the title & tags are fitting, change it if
you have a better idea of it =)
i put in the addins.xml that i did the restore with, the mod that i wanted to try to restore was Thrall (Thralls of the Archdemon)
ask away if i need to clarify anything.

i forgot that is the addins.xml that was restored, you might need that one too

Actually at present all that is backed up and restored is the AddIns.xml file. Not the mods. So uninstalling the mods is a permanent thing.

Ah right... i was overlooking the popup text, i should have known that from the start -.-
sorry i might need a coffee ^^Is there a way to let the user know, that when he selects a backup that includes an uninstall,
that the mod cant be brought back by restoring the backup? (needs to be reinstalled if he wants it back)
Maybe adding a Text somewhere? -

Well its irrelevant with the new backup system as the user can choose to backup the mods as well.
