[USABILITY] Detect if an older version of the mod in already installed
Reported by FollowTheGourd | December 9th, 2009 @ 08:10 PM
If the (here core) mod has a manifest file, then it might be nice if DAModder would look at the installed mod's and the new one's to assure the user it should be a good idea to proceed. Currently, it pops up what will look to many as an error dialog. The text explains that you should uninstall the previous version (DAModder makes no such assurances), but it looks a little intimidating in my opinion.

My only concern with doing this is that it relies on the mod author giving valid information. If they forget to update the version, then DAModder will be giving incorrect information to the user.

True, but if they do update it, then the information would at least be there for DAModder to relay to the user.
I probably wouldn't go so far as to check timestamps, but I'm just thinking it might be a mental barrier to smooth upgrades in it's current state.
