Configure/View README buttons

Reported by nonameform | December 6th, 2009 @ 11:26 PM | in Beta 3

If it's possible, please make those buttons inactive, when DAModder can't actually configure addon or find a readme. It's very tempting to push them every time I see a new addon, but pressing them does nothing,

Is there any specific naming for a readme file for DAModder to pick it up or this button is just a placeholder for time-being? I've tried using sample mod package from dragonagenexus.com and DAModder didn't open text file included in .ZIP. I've also tried renaming file to Readme.txt (README, READ.ME), but it had no effect.

Sorry about that. I should have mentioned that those buttons don't work yet.

As for naming, it will eventually look for "readme.txt" & "changelog.txt"

It just isn't implemented yet and I forgot to hide it.

Button is now disabled. Functionality for viewing the readme of an installed mod is not complete, but when it is the button will be enabled for mods with a readme.

If a mod has a readme, it will be auto-displayed after installation.

Though after selecting addon for install there is a confirmation window with basic addon information like title, author and version, being able to see readme (if it's present) before installation is something that all major installation applications lack. If, for example, you don't browse game CD before installing game, you might not know that those system requirements that are indicated on the game box are different from those that are in readme. In my opinion there should be a "View Readme" button available when you're asked if you want to install addon. If readme is not present, it should be grayed out. Readme popup after the installation must be optional.

The ability to view the readme prior to install is a good idea.

But I don't see any merit in making the viewing of the readme after install optional. Whether you click OK on the readme window or OK on a messagebox saying "The mod was installed", its the same amount of "work" for the user. No difference. If you don't want to read the readme, don't. Just click OK.
