Request: Fallout Mod Manager

Reported by cansel isiksel | December 4th, 2009 @ 05:40 AM

There was a very nice mod manager from the time I was hooked to Fallout 3. It has really nice features.

  1. It has this package manager that keeps the locations of the mods in zip/rar format.
  2. Directly installs mods in zip/rar form but I am not sure if they were making the mods to suit the mod manager.
  3. There is a built in mod categories (that you can modify/add/remove easily) and you can assign categories to mods.
  4. You can activate/deactive (which is actually installing/uninstalling) whole categories with one click.
  5. Ability to uninstall all installed mods with one click. (You can add ability to install all mods registered in the package manager to this)
  6. Also in the package manager there is an option to be able to display any readme.txt file inside the zip/rar archive.
  7. You may also keep all the mods installed but not choose to enable them like the DLC screen in the game where you can tick on/off.

Hope it helps.

FOMM and OBMM where great tools, very well done and extremely helpful. Add to that the Wrye Bash tool to convert mods to be compatible with each other and you had a game that could be modded to infinity.

I think the mod compatibility isn't an issue yet but will more than likely cause some problems in the near future, especially with all the EVENT overriding going on in a lot of scripts.

In regards to event overrides, and mod compatibility... One planned feature
is that builders will be able to specify if they override events, and which
ones. Then when installing a mod that gives that data, DAModder will inform
you if there is a conflict and offer to help resolve it by disabling
    conflicting mods.
