Issues with the integrated "Save Defaults" option
Reported by Alex "Alexspeed" Bachner | December 15th, 2009 @ 09:51 AM
This is from Beta 2.2.3
Besides issue #111 there are other things i found lacking usability.
The "Include Bioware DLC"-Option should not be default savable,
it fills the harddrive with every backup with unneccessary large
data and it leads to severe waiting time every time the DAModder is
opened. My recommendation is to disable this for automatic backups
and only allow it for custom backup saves.
The good thing is that its working as intended.
Its apparently possible to add negative Values like "-1" to the "Limit Custom Saves to"-Option, i am not sure what this does then if anything, it dosent produce an error but it shouldnt be possible i think. same with the Value zero "0"
Now to the searious issue:
I am not sure what exactly caused it that i did, but somehow the
"saved games" & "limit custom saves to" Option is
STUCK with my DAModder.
it happened after i did several different backup tests with
different options selected, but i didnt put in the "-1" setting,
that one appered by itself.
when i disable that option or change it to something else it resets
back to what is seen in the screenshot i attached.
I can change the other options and their values seem to save
corrctly (ticked/unticked) but that one allways resets to ticked
and the "-1" setting
Then i did a total clean up!
I deleted my test folder for "\My Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age"
completly, and i deleted the backup folder "\My Documents\DAModder"
and i deleted the folder and its contents where i unpacked
DAModder.
Then i created a completly new and fresh test folder "\My
Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age" and unzipped DAModder again in a new
folder, a complete restart.
And with the first start from DAModder that option is still like in the screenshot!
I cant get rid of that option. I dont know how to proceed with
that now. I will stop testing till i get further advice.
There must be some settings in my windows by damodder that i
couldnt delete, maybe in the registry?
I dont know if it martters but i was unable to locate a damodder.xml in the settings folder. there seems to be none.
please help.

-1 means no limit, since 0 would mean no custom saves. If you uncheck the Limit box, it sets the limit to -1. but if you check the limit box you should be able to type in an actual limit.
The application settings are in the location where apps are supposed to store such things which is Documents and Settings<you>\Local Settings\Application Data\Beyond Ferelden\DAModder<version>
There you will find a damodder.config file. You can delete that to clear your settings. Before you do though, please attach it to this ticket.

Okay then i will keep on testing with installs and uninstalls and ignore the backups for now with this version to not run into this issue again.
Thank you for the fast help =) -
